Brooklyn nous parle du déracinement et de l’intégration des migrants en Amérique dans les années 50, à travers les yeux d’Eilis, une jeune irlandaise partit de son pays natal pour s’assurer un meilleur avenir. Ce film est une histoire pleine de charme et de tendresse racontée avec beaucoup de douceur.

C’est un récit d’apprentissage aux allures de reportages rétro d’une grande finesse, qui cherche à comprendre le processus d’émancipation, Nick Hornby et John Crowley nous rappellent, qu’il faut d’abord faire le deuil d’une partie de soi, pour accepter la découverte de nouvelle chose et le commencement d’une nouvelle vie.

Rester où partir, accepter ou nier, pleurer ou espérer ce sont tous les choix que nous affrontons avec la jeune Irlandaise, qui les accepte avec la fragilité d’un petit oiseau tombé du nid, qui s’envole petit à petit aider par la découverte de l’amour dans les bras de Tony, un jeune Italien, fou des Irlandaises. Alors qu’elle commence enfin à prendre son envole c’est le deuil qui rappellera au pays notre jeune héroïne, c’est en retrouvant cette sécurité familière qu’elle devra faire le plus grand choix redevenir ce qu’elle était ou devenir ce qu’elle doit être.

Le frisson, le deuil, le courage, la soif de découverte, Saoirse Ronan nous entraîne avec délicatesse et justesse dans les rues de Brooklyn à la découverte de la vie adulte. Brooklyn est une histoire pleine de charme et de tendresse qui vous fera passer un petit moment de douceur dans une Amérique des années 50.

Bilan: Mars 2016

J’ai commencé mon mois en me plongeant dans une légende urbaine peu connuz à la voix si séduisante qu’on se laisserait presque embrocher, j’ai redécouvert l’oeuvre de Jane Austen dans un version 3.0, je me suis perdu dans les méandres des CIO, CIA et autres termes incompréhensibles du monde de Wall Street, j’ai pris quelques petites vacances en Amérique et en Irlande, j’ai vécu un road trip « spécial » à la conclusion poétique, j’ai sombré du coté obscur avec un apprenti trop oublié, j’ai mis le turbo pour éviter une explosion, j’ai découvert l’amour en changeant de comportement, j’ai côtoyé Wanda pour la première fois, ensemble nous avons  essayé de récupérer un diamant dans un commissariat pour finalement observer l’homme chauve-souris affronter l’homme kryptonien.

Une adaptation de plus dans le cinéma, cette fois-ci c’est le livre Brooklyn de Colm Toibin qui est adapté. L’histoire nous plonge dans les années 50, où Eilis jeune irlandaise part pour New York pour y trouver du travail, elle y rencontrera aussi l’amour, mais un drame la rappelle dans son pays natal. Déchirée entre deux mondes, elle devra faire des choix pour trouver sa propre voie.
